About Us
The curriculum at CCNH helps to build on each child's natural desire to learn. Children are given the opportunity to engage in a variety of activities and experiences, working in both small and large groups to learn more about the world around them. We utilize all areas of development when planning experiences within our classrooms. Monthly themes and concepts are used to connect lessons with real-life experiences. Some examples of the developmental areas and skills associated with those domains are explained below.

Social/Emotional: Regulating emotions and behaviors, establishing and sustaining positive relationships and participating cooperatively and constructively in group situations

Language and Literacy: Listening and understanding different levels of language, using language to express thoughts and needs, using appropriate conversational and other communication skills, demonstrating phonological awareness, demonstrating knowledge of the alphabet, knowledge of print and its uses, comprehension and responsiveness to books and other texts and emergent writing skills

Cognitive: Demonstration of positive approaches to learning, remembering and connecting life experiences, classification skills and the usage of symbols and images to represent something not present

Physical: Demonstration of traveling and balancing skills, gross-motor manipulative skills and fine-motor strength and coordination

Science and Math: Number and shape recognition, counting, classification and comparison of objects and exploring new materials

Welcome to the Children’s Center of North Harford! CCNH has been blessed to service our community by providing high quality preschool and childcare since 1971. Our program is based upon a child-centered philosophy, realizing that each child is an individual, growing and developing at their own rate. We believe that children best learn through play and interactions with their peers. Our interactive and child-focused curriculum fosters growth in all areas of child development. Our students spend their days in an educational and nurturing environment; with lots of hands-on learning activities and experiences that foster their natural curiosity.
